YouTube of the day II: Dirk Nowitzki documentary

January 12th, 2008 · No Comments

Christophe
from Ball in Europe found this
, and it’s fantastic: a candid, German
interview with Dirk Nowitzki, which essentially allows him to explain the NBA
lifestyle to the uninformed. In subtitles. And Steve Nash sings a little.

Seriously, it’s great. And you can watch the rest of the documentary by heading
to YouTube and looking at all seven clips (this is part three of seven). As far as I can tell, it was filmed during the 2002-03, because I think Dirk references the trade that brought Raef LaFrentz and Nick Van Exel to Dallas the year before.

There’s also a choice comment about a certain soon-to-be NBA Hall of Famer.

(MAJOR hat-tip to Ball in Europe for tracking this down.)

UPDATE: It turns out that the person conducting the interview, Till Brönner, is a jazz trumpeter from Germany, and not your typical TV presenter. Here’s a clip of him in action, and it’s not bad (a little smooth, but pretty tasty):

UPDATE: It turns out that Wes Cox from Mavs Moneyball found this documentary back when this ‘ere blog was just a glimmer in Jamie Mottram’s eye. For a nice, neat package, head here.
