Some of our younger readers might not remember Kevin Nealon’s impersonation of Brent Musberger from SNLs gone by, but I thought the impression relevant enough to make a headline out of it. Take from that what you will.
You can also derive what you will from this YouTube clip, but I still think the
mid-70s NBA on CBS music seems positively inspirational. Throw in Musberger’s sense of gravitas, a plug (har-har) for AC-Delco, and you’ve
absolutely got me.
This clip also allows me a chance to link to this, a CBS Sports promo from
1987, that showcases a solid gathering of most of the athletes significant to
most of the blogger kingdom, while moving along to the strains of a funky Hall
and Oates throwdown.
(Which, of course, gives me the chance to link to this.)
Also, for bowl season, I feel it necessary to link to a
commercial that I actually remember watching during the midst of one of the
sadder afternoons of my young life: Texas A&M’s 35-10 thrashing of Heisman-winner
Tim Brown and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the 1988 Cotton Bowl. At least the Cavalier looked
good.
